The 18th is the one-year anniversary of the two-way connection of the "Qiankai Shanghai" shipping route. Bernardo Mu ñ oz, Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General of Peru in Shanghai, recently gave a full score to the performance of the 'Qiankai Shanghai' shipping route in its first year in an interview with Xinhua News Agency

According to Shanghai Customs data, from December 18 last year to December 18 this year, the cumulative import and export value of the "Qiankai Shanghai" sea freight route reached 5.57 billion yuan, with 205000 tons of import and export goods. Driven by this route, Shanghai's import and export value to Peru increased significantly by 40.3% in the first 11 months of this year compared to the same period last year.

At present, the 'Qiankai Shanghai' shipping route has directly driven five to six hundred Peruvian fruit companies to export to China, indirectly benefiting more plantations. We expect that, stimulated by the growth of the Chinese and Asian markets, the national fruit planting area in Peru is expected to double in the next two years, "said Bernardo Munoz.

According to statistics from Shanghai Customs, in the first 11 months of this year, the value of Peruvian fruit imported at Shanghai Port reached 2.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 117.4%, accounting for over 70% of China's total imported Peruvian fruit value during the same period. The one-way time of the "Qiankai Shanghai" sea freight route is 23 to 25 days, which is significantly shortened by more than 10 days compared to non direct routes, and helps to export fresh Latin American fruits such as grapes, avocados, and blueberries to China.

The relevant person in charge of Shanghai Customs introduced that the Chinese customs department has developed an intelligent evaluation model for the cold treatment of imported fruits, which allows shipping companies with conditions to automatically push their cold treatment data to the customs system, saving inspection time. In addition, Shanghai Customs has also tailored a "one-stop" service plan for relevant direct flights.

Chen Xiaochen, Senior Business Representative of the Latin American Route Department of COSCO Shipping Container Transport Co., Ltd., stated that since the first anniversary of the two-way connection of the "Qian Kai Shanghai" shipping route, ports along the Chinese coast such as Dalian, Qingdao, Ningbo, Xiamen, Guangzhou, as well as Vietnam's Haiphong Port have entered the extended service scope of the route.

Bernardo Munoz believes that the "Qiankai Shanghai" shipping route is driving a "two-way rush" between China and Latin America across the ocean. Shanghai Port is becoming a gathering place for Peruvian goods to export to China and even Asia, while Qiankai has become a gathering place for Chinese goods to reach Latin America.

The 'Qiankai Shanghai' shipping route is expected to radiate more to Latin America in the future, connecting ports in countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile, "said Bernardo Munoz.
