Rwanda's coffee export revenue hits a new high in 2025
Xinhua News Agency, Kigali, January 10 (Reporter Liu Youmin) - Data recently released by the National Agricultural Export Development Council of Rwanda shows that the country's coffee export revenue in 2025 approached US$150 million, hitting a record high, with China becoming one of its main export markets.
Data shows that in 2025, Rwanda exported 23,860 tons of unroasted green coffee beans, marking a 39% increase from the previous year; export revenue exceeded US$148.6 million, representing a 65% year-on-year growth. The National Agricultural Export Development Committee of Rwanda stated that this was primarily attributed to the increased export volume, the rise in global coffee prices, and Rwanda's sustained investment in coffee production and market expansion.
On the 10th, the mainstream Rwandan media "New Times" quoted data from the National Agricultural Export Development Committee and reported that 75% of Rwanda's coffee export revenue in 2025 came from the top ten buyers, with China ranking eighth. In addition to traditional markets such as Europe and North America, Rwandan coffee is actively expanding into emerging markets.
In recent years, with the help of platforms such as the China International Import Expo and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Rwandan agricultural products such as coffee, chili peppers, and tea have become increasingly popular among Chinese consumers.
